FAQ - Frequently Asked QuestionsBelow are a few of the most frequently asked questions. If you should

1. What time will class start?
Class will begin promptly at 8:30 am and end at 2:45 pm. An extended day program will be available for
those students needing extra care before or after school hours.

2. What is the dress code?
Students wear uniform polo shirts and khaki pants. Pants, capris, shorts, skorts, or skirts are all acceptable
as long as they are at a finger tips length. Fridays are casual days. Students can wear blue jeans and
t-shirts if they choose. There will occasionally be Spirit Days when other attire is allowed.

3. Can students play sports at the local public high school?
By charter school law, all students enrolled in a charter school may participate in extracurricular activities
and sports programs offered at their home zoned school. It is the best of both worlds! Varsity sports can be
played at the local high school although Heritage Academy will offer several sports throughout the year.

4. Will advanced classes be offered?
Yes, because we accept students from all academic backgrounds, advanced classes will be offered. In
addition there will be a Gifted and Talented Program available for students to excel even further. Dual
Enrollment is available at no cost with Daytona Beach State College for those that would like to jump start
their college career.

5. How much will lunch cost?
A nutritious hot lunch is available for $2.25 a day. The reduced cost is $0.40.

6. When will breakfast be served, and what is the cost?
Breakfast will be served from 8:15am to 8:30am and will cost $1.00. The reduced cost is $0.30.

7. How much do the uniforms cost?
Each polo shirt is $15. If your family qualifies for reduced lunch they are $7.50 each. Elementary students
will wear red polo's, middle school students will wear blue polo's and high school students will wear white
polo shirts. All will be accompanied by khaki pants of your choice.
