School Uniform Policy
DRESS CODE: Revised 2011-2012
Heritage Academy students are expected to dress appropriately at all times while on school campus or attending school sponsored events.
ALL students MUST wear a designated school uniform shirt while attending school during school hours. Uniform shirts are designated according to color and are
embroidered with the Heritage Academy school logo. The color designation is as follows:

Elementary K-6 RED
Middle 7-8 BLUE
High School 9-12 WHITE/BLACK

The dress code will be strictly enforced by the Heritage Academy Administration and Staff. We rely on the judgment of the students and the responsibility of
the parents to advise their children of the appropriate dress in accordance with the Heritage Academy dress code policy. The following general rules are not
limited to but apply to the dress code policy.

ALL students MUST wear Khaki colored shorts, skirts or trousers.
If outerwear is necessary due to climate conditions in the classroom, front zip sweatshirts may be worn.
HOODIE sweatshirts that cover the Heritage uniform shirt will not be acceptable outerwear.
(Short shorts/micro-mini skirts or dresses must be no shorter than the length of the student's longest finger with their arms relaxed at their side)

Hats, headgear, or any head covering (bandanas, sweatbands, du-rags) are not allowed.

School Uniform Shirts must be long enough to clearly overlap the belt line or stay tucked in during the course of the normal movement throughout the school day.

School Uniform Shirts must be worn without holes, rips or modifications. Underwear, including bra straps or boxer shorts that show is not allowed.

Underwear and sleepwear as outer clothing are not allowed.

Tight fitting clothing or spandex-type material that is not covered by other clothing is not allowed.

Clothes or tattoos that show profanity, violence, sexually suggestive phrases or pictures, gang related symbols, alcohol, tobacco, drugs or advertisements for
such products or other phrases or symbols deemed inappropriate by the administration will not be allowed.

Wearing apparel, which tends to identify association with secret societies or gangs as prohibited in Florida Statues are not allowed.

No sunglasses can be worn inside buildings.

Wallet chains or dog collars are not allowed. Chains in excess of 5" that hang outside clothing are not allowed.

Jewelry that presents a safety or health hazard or causes a major disruption to the educational process is not allowed.

Footwear that is a safety hazard will not be allowed.

Clothing which is not worn appropriately, is not properly fastened, or has tears that are indecent will not be permitted.

Ramifications for non compliance:

Students who are considered to be dressed inappropriately or who violate the above guidelines will be sent to the office. Students without a designated uniform
shirt will need to purchase a uniform shirt before returning to class. Parents / guardians of students without a uniform shirt will be billed by our accounting
department for the replacement cost of the uniform shirt. In cases where a student is otherwise inappropriately dressed, arrangements will be made with the
parents for an appropriate change of clothing. In the case of high school students, with parent authorization, the child may be sent home for a change of clothing.

Students who are sent to the office more than three times for Dress Code violations will be subject to disciplinary measures.
